Malden Anglers' is a fly-fishing club founded in 1947 located in Saugus, Massachusetts just minutes from Boston. Accepting new members !
This handsome six-pound largemouth was pulled from Patkin Pond by Danny Donahue, grandson of Malden Angler Dan Donahue of Saugus. These black bass are thriving in Patkin Pond — and some are absolute hogs!
The smaller ones can be tempted with flies and topwater lures, but the big ones demand meatier offerings in deeper water.
With the fall trout stocking not happening until late September or early October, now’s the perfect time to grab your spinning gear or bait caster and chase a trophy bass. The casting docks offer easy access to nearly every corner of the pond, but if you really want to patrol the waters properly, take a boat, canoe, or float tube and get after those lunkers! Dan and Danny are constant companions on the water. Congrats guys on a real trophy.

Malden Anglers’ Thomas Lew and Craig Andree turned the shore along Peabody Institute Library’s Mill Pond into a fly‑fishing classroom last night! From 6–9 PM, a dozen kids and parents learned how to set up their gear, cast, and even practice etiquette and respect for the sport and nature.
And yes — the class was FREE. Free rods to try, free tips, free laughs, and free memories along Mill Pond. The only thing anyone paid was attention.
Huge thanks to the library for hosting and to all the families who came out. It's one of Malden Angler's missions to be ambassadors of the sport to the community and especially to these young future sportsmen.
